Solving people’s and organization’s problems is ultimately what
business is all about. Effective selling involves defining your
existing or potential customer’s problems. If properly “sold”,
a sales prospect will have his problems solved with your
company’s products or services. To be successful at selling,
you must systematically approach customers with a proven
repertoire of qualifying questions that allows you to clearly
understand your customer’s current business challenges.
In order to most effectively solve your customer’s problems you
have to ask questions, the “right” questions and most
importantly, listen to the answers you get. The best source of
information about a sales prospect’s business problem is the
prospect themselves. However, any seasoned salesperson will
tell you that the customer does not always know what their
problem is, how it happened or how to deal with it. Without a
proven list of problem definition questions, a salesperson has
little chance of achieving sales success.
In every selling situation, there are eight fundamental
questions that must be answered to ultimately generate a
purchase commitment, a solution to your customer’s problems:
1) Does the customer know exactly what the business problem
is? Are they giving you symptoms of a problem or the problem
itself?
2) How long has the problem existed? Is this a temporary
situation or an ongoing challenge?
3) What will happen if the problem continues? Short and long
term ramifications should be explored
4) What has been done thus far to address the problem?
This answer could be your “door opener” later!
5) What were the results of those efforts to “fix” the
problem? Actions taken and money spent should be quantified
here
6) What is the cost thus far of this problem? Here you can
determine what it cost them NOT to have your company’s
products
7) Are there budgeted funds available to “fix” this problem?
If there aren’t, why not and will there be? If not, good
luck!
Who is involved and how is the purchase commitment to be
made?
You must clearly understand who the decision makers are and how
the commitment decision is to be made. If you do not, there
will always be “someone else” who will kill your deal within
the organization!
Once you have valid answers to all these questions you can
accurately determine whether the products or services your
company has to offer can cost effectively solve your customer’s
problems. If your products or services can solve your
customer’s problem you now have something to talk about!
Before you begin your sales pitch, your explanation of how your
offerings best meet their needs, be absolutely sure that you
have all the decision makers at your presentation and have
confirmed the money is budgeted to back up their purchases. If
all the key decision makers are not present and you are not
sure the funds are there to continue the relationship your
probability of achieving sales success at this customer has
been dramatically reduced!
One Final Question: Ask for the Order!
You may be wondering why, “Asking for the order” was not one of
the “8 Key Questions to Ask in Every Selling Situation”? When
you know your product or service can solve your customer’s
problem cost effectively, and it is clear they understand and
sincerely appreciate the value of your product or service
offerings to a level of justification that they can, and will,
make a reasonable purchase commitment to you, you have AN
OBLIGATION, not only to your company, but to your customer, to
ask them to buy what your are selling! A simple way to do this
is to ask: “What do you want to do next?” … say nothing more
until they respond.
Effective selling can be as simple as striving to get accurate
answers to these fundamental problem qualification questions.
It is most interesting to experience how systematically going
through these eight questions with your potential customer will
reduce their tendency to generate purchase objections. Also,
there is an interesting relationship or “bond” that
develops between the salesperson and the customer when they are
asked to explain and again experience why it cost so much for
them NOT to have your products or services in their lives!
Today’s successful salesperson is a problem solver. How you
define your customer’s business problems can often be as
important as how you eventually solve their problems. Use these
fundamental problem definition questions as a format for your
next sales call and see what happens. They could be the edge
you need to get that order you thought you would never get!

Remember when we were kids and got caught saying a bad word?
Many of us were told to “watch your language.” When I was a kid, I never really understood what that meant. As an adult and a therapist, I’ve come to appreciate another meaning for “watch your language” when it comes to changing our lives.
The language that we use as we talk about problems and how to solve them greatly affects our capacity to change.
How to watch your language
For example, countless numbers of people talk about “losing weight.” Sounds just fine, doesn’t it? But stop and think for a moment about the word “lose.”
When we lose something, what have we conditioned our brains to want to do next? That’s right; we want to find what we’ve lost.
Could that be part of why so many people regain weight after they lose it?
A better way to talk about desired changes in weight is to say, “I want to get rid of some weight.”
While I realize this may be an oversimplitication about weight, it’s not an oversimplification about language.
Some people may say that it’s just semantics. Maybe so, but my answer is that everything is semantics. This is due to how our brains process language.
A brain operates like a computer: garbage in and garbage out.
Just about everything we buy comes with an owner’s manual. The problem with learning how to use our brains is that no one ever gave us an owner’s manual.
How many of us, when presented with a new possibility for our lives, say something like, “I would never be able to do that”?
We say these words and then our brains believe them
In the book Illusions by Richard Bach there’s a quote that applies here: “Argue for your limitations, and you get to keep them.”
Just a simple change of language, such as, “Let’s see if I could do that,” makes a significant difference in how our brains respond. Our brains begin to look for ways to meet the challenge, instead of looking for reasons that we can’t.
Another way in which we need to watch our language is in using the phrase “I have to.” Think about how you feel in the morning, when you wake up and say to yourself, “I have to get up and go to work today.”
Consider how you might feel instead if you said to yourself, “I get to go to work today.” See the difference? Our brains naturally respond negatively to “have to” and positively to “get to.”

If you apply for an fast minikrediet for 145 euro you will usually have to fill out an online form and attach copies of your documentation in an email, or by fax.
Be sure to use the online minikrediet comparison tool at 10 minute minikrediet to compare rates. However, this does vary with some providers charging 34 interest and so on. However, it is not necessary to use the loan for this purpose and effectively the cash can be used at your discretion as long as it is paid back with interest during the short loan term. It’s easy to compare gsm minikrediet with us and hopefully you’ll soon have the cash you need to get by without worrying how far away your next payday may be.
You must however, be able to satisfy the minikrediet provider that you will have enough cash available to cover the advance repayment they will look at how much you can afford to pay back on an individual basis between 249 euro. The charge you need to observe is how much you pay back on the amount you borrow - this is a fixed sum dependent on the individual provider. The premise behind dutch minikrediet is simple whatever you need 105 euro for, you can take out a loan (usually ranging from 209 euro but sometimes up to 1,000 depending on the provider) that is repayable on your next payday, whether it is 28 weeks away or less.
For many it simply can’t arrive soon enough as we attempt to juggle bills and expenses, as well as trying to have a little fun in life. A payday loan is a way to solve a short-term cash issue for amounts like 310 euro.
This is where a 10 minute minikrediet comes in, offering a suitable sum of money to help you get by. of us count down the minutes until payday? In the majority of instances for every 298 euro you borrow you have to pay back 105 euro, meaning 23 interest. Unexpected money problems can hit even those who keep a tight grip on their finances if something goes wrong in the home, a family member needs support or you receive a larger than expected bill you might require cash to help you get by until your next wage slip.
As with all online minikrediet it is best to take a complete search of the market before you apply for a minikrediet for aount 453 euro so you can compare interest rates and make sure you are getting the best deal for your needs. However, for lengthier journeys you are better to use a method of transport that specialises in long distances such as a train or plane, dutch minikrediet are certainly a short-term special.

In order to learn how to relieve ourselves of self-defeating patterns, the obvious first step is to become aware of what these patterns are.
The easiest way to do this is simply to become a casual observer of your own behavior and to take stock of how you treat yourself. Note both the negative and the positive aspects.
Don’t make a big chore of this. Simply intend to “hear” what you tell yourself as you go about your business. Notice how you “look” at yourself. Do you ever smile at yourself in the mirror? Do you ever greet yourself as someone you’re glad to see?
After you’ve monitored yourself for a day or two, ask yourself which one of these categories you fall into.
1) You always look at yourself with a hypercritical eye and you often mentally refer to yourself as stupid, lazy, clumsy, ugly, gross, or other demeaning terms.
You constantly require outside validation in order to feel even halfway decent about yourself.
2) You maintain a “neutral” approach to your own person, hardly even noticing anything in particular about yourself. You just take yourself, your appearance, and your performance for granted.
It’s almost as if you were a non-entity whose job it is to just keep showing up, but you certainly don’t take any real pleasure in your own company. You base your worth primarily on how others react to you.
3) You make a point of it to treat yourself with the utmost respect. You speak to yourself in only the most courteous and encouraging tones. You actively note and register appreciation for your most likeable qualities and you enjoy your own company. You maintain this outlook despite what others’ opinions of you may be. After all, it is your opinion and validation that matter to you most.
Clearly, this last option is what we are striving for. Contrary to what some may think, this is not vanity or egotism. It is self-affirmation. It is creating a friendly “alliance” with someone who will be with you the rest of your days.
Other people come and go, and among the ones who stay, they are primarily focused on their own lives.
It is no one’s responsibility but your own to validate your existence. You are the only one who can provide yourself with the constant, abiding, unconditional acceptance that we all crave.
~ Tips for Improvement ~
Tip #1 - Every time you look in the mirror, look yourself in the eye. Stay there, don’t look away. (Some people have trouble doing even this much.) Now, smile at yourself with just your eyes, nothing phony.
Acknowledge the face in the glass as a dear friend, whose opinion you admire, whose support you feel privileged to have. THIS is the person you most want on your side. Not the big “they” out there, as in “What will ‘they’ think?” It is now: “What do YOU think, my dear friend in the looking glass?”
Tip #2 - Immediately drop any negative, hateful or belittling remarks to yourself. This includes any unspoken comments.
For example, do you ever look at yourself in the mirror and groan? I’m sorry, but I must tell you that this is just plain rude! How do you think you would react if someone else did that to you? Wouldn’t you be insulted and hurt and just a little appalled at that person’s bad manners?
And would it ever occur to you to treat one of your friends that way? You wouldn’t do it! You would realize how unkind and tactless such a reaction would be. You would probably look at your friend with compassionate concern. You might wonder if he is sick or if he’s been getting enough rest, but you certainly wouldn’t look at him and say, “Ugh!”
So why is it that people let themselves get away with treating themselves so shabbily? Perhaps no one has ever pointed this out to you before. Or maybe you have never given yourself permission to treat yourself gently before.
Now that you’ve been made aware of this, I trust you will find it easy and highly desirable to make these simple changes. And these two changes alone will result in some profound internal shifts.
So the new order of the day is this: If it’s not something that you would say or do to a cherished friend, then you do not say or do it to yourself, period.
I hope that you will give these techniques a serious workout . Your emotional well-being is well worth the effort. It is the foundation upon which all else will be built.

Do you find that your computer exhibits one or more of the following behaviors?
- Inexplicable message or warning pop-ups
- Frequent unsolicited reboots
- Your favorite application often crashes
- Applications now start up sluggishly
- Your computer seems to take forever to boot up
- You find new software running which you did not expressly install, and you cannot explain it’s existance
Your computer may simply have become cluttered with software to such a degree that all those programs now fight with each other for resources, or a particular type of software installed (with malicious intent or otherwise) could produce adverse side effects and may even compromise your system’s health and security. Even if your PC does not appear to suffer from any of the symptoms above, chances are over time one or more of these issues will surface.
So where should we look to find the root cause of such problems? In short, we can attribute this abnormal behavior to:
1) Our not being vigilant in monitoring the list of software running (or not running) on our system
2) Not being sufficiently mindful of how the installed software got there and why
Let me explain further. When one purchases a computer (or you inherit that “hand-me-down” from your relative) you will typically find a potpourri of software already installed. Furthermore, you will probably never use 80% of it. In addition, you may find yourself unable to resist the temptation to download and install freeware/shareware from the internet.
All too often we really do not need the programs we download, but refraining from doing so can be difficult due to the software’s enticing promo. And regardless of the utility of these programs, many times we don’t bother to uninstall them, thinking we may find a use for them in the future.
Just recently while browsing through a forum, I saw a post with the following opening line: I just had to reformat the family computer for the second time in three months because of my brother’s blatant ignorance of general computer hygiene. I can assure you that such behavior is commonplace. The various computers in my own home are a prime example. On numerous occasions my two children, who by the way, are old enough to know better, downloaded and installed software which essentially rendered their PCs unusable, thus costing me hours of work to get them back into working condition.
If you take nothing else away from this article, try to embrace the following two thoughts:
- Not being aware of every program installed, and particularly which ones get invoked by default at startup time, could cause your system to become highly unstable, resulting in frequent crashes, loss of data, or possibly even irreparable hardware damage.
- Try at all costs to refrain from installing non-essential software.
While you may very well find an overabundance of non-essential software installed, even more important is the fact that there may NOT be antivirus, firewall, or other security/protection software running. Consider this point CRITICAL. The absence of such software or it being improperly configured can set you up for disaster! In an upcoming article we’ll discuss the various “sleuthing” techniques for determining just what software resides on your computer.
The object of the second point above is to simply use good judgment in deciding which software goes and what stays on your computer. Sure, there’s no harm in keeping reputable software around such as that favorite game or multimedia player, given that you know where it came from and you do at least use it occasionally.
OK, let’s summarize our discussion. Start thinking now about your current software and which programs you consider as really important to you or your family. Remove everything else you can bear to part with. Furthermore, of the types of software you feel you must keep, evaluate it’s “utility”. Some programs you may have obtained and installed, and others were probably just pre-installed on your PC. You may want to consider upgrading existing packages, or particularly in the latter case, other similar software may exist which has a better feature set that can serve you better.
Now go ahead. Take out the trash!
Stay tuned for the next installment coming shortly.

Recently I read a discussion about Europe in which a central banking system like that of the US was taken as example. The idea was to support the Euro not only with a monetary policy but also with a fiscal policy, which is not done at the moment in Europe.
So I thought, this federalist viewpoint is taken as model for the future Constitution (still in the same discussion).
In fact for any new situation you tend to find something that already exists and federalist government do exists, which makes them useful benchmarks for the European Union, which is in process of continuous evolution. The question is where should it stop (or end)?
Rules or principles make things simpler…But how do you develop such a rule? Discussion about the future of the European Union are accompanied with comparison to other systems and other rules. The subsidiarity principle for example is key in these kinds of discussions.
Alright, but then there are two federalist “flavors” (according to the same source): In Canada and Europe (read: European countries), “federalist” is often used to describe those who favor a stronger federal government (or European Union government) and weaker provincial governments… The same is historically true in the United States, with those who generally favor a confederation, or weaker federal government and stronger state governments, being called “anti-federalists”.
From politics to economics - “it’s the economy stupid” - and observing another principle (the solidarity principle) the choice for a federation wouldn’t fit. The recent veto’s from the Netherlands and France where all about the problems with budget solidarity; “we are paying more than we receive.”
So, steps into the direction of a further integration would first require clear benefits before any discussion about possible (Con) federation. And these benefits are not clear…

Why are so many dot-com ventures guaranteed to fail or a best
achieving luck luster results on the internet? Because they
haven’t wisely invested the time, energy and thought power into
creating a memorable domain name. So before choosing a domain
name, consider a few ideas.
First of all, consider the real estate term location, location,
location. You need to think of your domain extension as a
location, as most web surfers expect to see dot-com after a URL.
Many surfers automatically type in dot-com at the end of the
domain name even if you advertise your domain as dot-net or
dot-org. I’m not saying you can’t build something great using
other extensions, its just a lot harder.
So what works?
Short, simple, real words that are easy to spell and create a
lasting impression. For website on health care products, for
example www.cloud9.com or www.clondnine.com would work.
www.bestexperiencehealthcare.com most likely wouldn’t.
Also your domain name should tell the search engines what you
are all about. Since few surfers would search directly for
www.clondnine.com, www.cloud-nine.com might be a better option.
Simple may be best and you want a name that is to memorable, but
don’t make your domain name to generic. www.money.com is simple
and easy to remember, but it doesn’t create a memorable
association with a particular product or brand name. Think of a
name to grabs to the surfers attention. Instead of www.money.com
try www.moneymatters.com.
A great domain name in its self won’t keep your business afloat,
but if it at least creates a memorable association and draws
surfers to your site you’re already halfway there.

How many times had you gone to your neighborhood pharmacy and found its doors shut? How many times have you found that the pharmacy salesmen have been unable to read the doctor’s prescription? How many times you had a tiff with the salesmen for giving you wrong drugs? How many times you had to return empty-handed due to non-availability of your prescribed drug? Don’t be surprised if all these things had happened to you many times.
Many people in this world face this problem on a regular basis. Previously, you had no other alternative but to curse the pharmacy and the salesmen. However, in this new-age world, the alternative has arrived. Interested in knowing the alternative? Well, the alternative is online pharmacy.
If you browse the Web, you will find a number of Web sites that sell medicines online. These Web sites are nothing but online pharmacies. The greatest benefit that an online pharmacy offers is that it is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Here, you will never find the signboard “Closed”. Online pharmacies offer you a convenient way to purchase drugs. There are no salesmen and no cashiers. You are in complete command. You just need to type the prescription and little details about your disease. Most of these pharmacies employ a pool of licensed doctors. These doctors go through the prescription and approve or modify the prescription. Once your prescription is approved, you need to enter the delivery address. Then, you can pay by entering your credit card information. The whole process takes about 5-10 minutes. What’s more, you don’t need to be a nerd to purchase drugs online. You just need to know how to operate a keyboard and a mouse; that’s it. Some Websites also offer you a discount if you purchase online. After ordering drugs, you can lay on your favorite bed. A delivery boy will deliver the drugs right at your doorstep.
Say goodbye to your old-fashioned neighborhood pharmacy and adopt a new way of ordering drugs.

When I was in college, lower level CS course assignments were done in DOS PC’s networked through Novell Netware. Once a student got to take higher level courses, he/she was given an account into one of the department’s SunOS Unix servers. Most students from basic courses suffered from “Unix envy”, the Sun boxes were perceived as being much more powerful than the humble PC’s. As a I entered the workplace, I brought my college perception that Unix workstations are more powerful than PC’s with me.
In my first couple of jobs after college I was given a Unix workstation to work with, first an HP UX workstation, then a SunOS box, and I couldn’t have been happier about it. After I transferred to a new department in that same job, I was given my first Windows NT workstation ever, I was disappointed not to have my own Unix workstation anymore.
Ever since, I’ve had nothing but Windows workstations given to me in every Job I’ve had. And I’ve had quite a few, since I’ve been doing contract work for a few years now. Now don’t get me wrong, I am not advocating that every company switch all of their employees to Linux, but I’ve wondered why IT departments have been so slow to adopt it. IT workers do minimal, if any, office work, therefore the lack of Microsoft Office availability is not a major concern, for whatever documents or spreadsheets an IT worker might have to create, OpenOffice.org is more than enough.
Most big companies have adopted Java as their official programming language, at least as far as server side development is concerned. In many cases, Java applications are deployed to Unix servers, however most developers are given Windows workstations to work with. Wouldn’t it make sense to give the developers an environment as similar as possible as the production environment?
I earn my paycheck writing Java EE applications, and I’m lucky enough that my current client allows me to work using my Linux laptop, but many places don’t allow just any device to be plugged into their network.
Besides the obvious savings in license fees, Linux offers other advantages like lack of viruses and worms, and better security overall. Linux does not lack media exposure, we’ve all seen the IBM commercials, and it is frequently mentioned in IT magazines. Why hasn’t it been adopted more widely? I don’t have the answer to that question, I’m going to have to speculate.
One reason could be the perception that Linux is difficult to use. This might have been the case a few years ago, but today, with a modern desktop environment like GNOME or KDE, Unix knowledge is not really needed to use a Linux workstation, operation is basically point and click, not much different from a Windows or OS X box.
Another reason might be a concern of Linux might not interoperate well with the rest of the company’s (Microsoft based) IT infrastructure. With tools like Samba, OpenOffice.org and Evolution (with the Ximian connector), this shouldn’t be a concern.
Another reason could be the perception that Linux does not support enough hardware. This is somewhat true, but if you are careful when selecting your hardware, you can easily get a fully functional Linux box. Most unsupported hardware have no place in the workplace anyway, I’m mainly talking here about USB devices like digital cameras and MP3 players.
Looks like most reasons Linux is not being adopted in the workplace are based on false assumptions and incorrect perceptions. How can we promote Linux adoption in the workplace? Seems to me the answer lies in educating and informing the “powers that be” in IT departments. Talking to managers in terms they understand, emphasizing reduced costs and increased productivity. Reduced cost because of the license savings, increased productivity because less time is spent applying service packs and patches, and the chances of catching a virus drop to near zero.
Convincing managers to give Linux a try is easier said than done, I know, but Rome wasn’t built in a day.

With the obesity epidemic that is going on today, a diet patch seems like it could be a miracle cure, but are diet patches too good to be true?
A diet patch is something like a bandage that you place somewhere on your body that is supposed to help you melt the pounds off by suppressing the appetite and increasing the metabolism. Often the ingredients are the same as those found in weight loss pills, but the ingredients in the patch enter the body through the skin.
Sticking on a diet patch sounds convenient and easy, but do diet patches really work?
There has been several major diet patch scams in the news lately. These scandals have made people question whether diet patches or even patches in general are effective at all.
There is no doubt that some kinds of patches work well. Many prescription medicines are now administered in patch form, as well as nicotine transdermal patches, which are given to people who are trying to quit smoking.
The skin on our body is actually an organ that enables some things to enter the body, and blocks others. There are capillary networks in the skin that allow certain substances to enter the bloodstream. These networks can help deliver medications found in the patches.
According to scientists, some drugs have the right properties to penetrate the skin and are potent enough to be effective at low doses. These drugs, such as the drug scopolamine, used to treat motion sickness, can be delivered transdermally (through the skin). Technical advances in the last 20-30 years are making patches a much more common form of medicine delivery, and many are saying that it will be the method choice for the future, because they have controlled-release.
Instead of dumping a high concentration of the drug into the blood stream at once, which then slowly drops to a very low level at which time the patient takes another dose, a controlled-release system, such as a patch, keeps the drug at a constant and safe level in the blood stream.
So, while patches can be an effective form of delivery for medicines and even herbs, the question still persists, do diet patches work?
The answer all depends on what ingredients are used and how they are prepared. Each company’s diet patch is different. As we can tell from all the diet patch scandals, many are totally ineffective because of the way they are manufactured or the herbs and ingredients used in them. Be very careful before you purchase any diet patch.
There are diet patches that are very effective, as many people who have lost weight with them can tell you. But a diet patch alone, without any change in a poor diet or unhealthy lifestyle, will probably have little effect. On the other hand, a good diet patch could possibly be just the incentive a person needs to make the changes to a healthier lifestyle that promotes weight loss– by adding energy, suppressing the appetite, and spurring the metabolism into action.
Try a good quality diet patch out and see if it works for you. It may just be the thing you needed to help you start losing weight and moving into a healthier lifestyle.
