Jobs are a hot topic these days. Almost everyone you meet has been touched in some way by the downturn in the economy.
Jobs are a hot topic these days. Almost everyone you meet has been touched in some way by the downturn in the economy.
A recent edition of U.S. News and World Reports profiles employment issues across America. The editors offer some advice on emerging career hot spots.
Here are some of their suggestions for industries that are expected to grow within the next 10 years.
* Health care - especially nursing, pharmacists, medical technicians, and medical records
* Education - special education, bilingual, math, science teachers and principals
* Librarians
* Personal trainers
* Security
* Computer network administrators
* Mortgage banking
* Financial Planning
* Slot machine technicians
It’s kind of funny to see slot machine technicians on the list. I would have never thought of that particular job by myself.
With such a rich array of potential jobs, sometimes it is hard to select a career focus. Do you chase a growth industry or do you l stick with what you have done in the past?
Most research tells us that a successful career transition takes time, strategic planning, and research. Another key ingredient is spending time thinking about yourself and what makes you feel happy and successful.
If you are thinking about a career change, here are a few questions to consider that will help you clarify what you really want:
* What tasks come very easily to me?
* In my previous jobs, where was I the most successful?
* What parts of my past jobs did I hate? What did I love?
* What is my ideal work environment?
* If I could design my perfect job, what tasks would I perform, what would the schedule look like, how would I be supervised, and what would my salary be?
* What values would my ideal employer promote?
Taking the time to identify the characteristics of your ideal career will help you evaluate potential employers and industries. Since almost all of us have to work for a living, why not work at something that fits your personality and skill set? It is possible to love going to work each day.
So whether you are interested in becoming a librarian, teacher, health care professional, or slot machine technician, let your skills, interests, and past successes guide your career decisions.

This is a parody of a wealthy family’s attempt at social normalcy and an oblivious trophy wife does the talking. What she doesn’t know…well, she may never know.
The Annual Cheetem Family “Holiday” Letter By: Noelle Franzen
Seasonal Greetings to all!
We, the aforementioned Cheetem clan (he he, alliteration) are all in robust health as we near the end of another wonderful yet bittersweet year here in quiet, sleepy Aspen, CO. Robert, (Dad, as I like to call him) has remained at the helm of Cheetem, Billim and Gougem for the sixteenth year! What a thriving business the law has become in this quaint little town. With that little JonBenet girl being killed and all, everyone on the street is whispering about lawyers this and lawyers that. It must be wonderful to have a real job complete with people talking about you all the time! Robbie (as I also like to call him) continues also to participate regularly in charitable events (also a PR stuntthat’s what he calls them). This year saw the great success of the fifth annual Jog-a-thon benefiting children without designer snowsuits and skis! What a wonderful idea. Who knows what those children looked like before Daddy (another name I like and use frequently) so graciously provided cute little matching Prada ensembles! He is also very, very busy with an out of town venture that he will not tell me about. In fact, he is rarely home for dinner anymore. It is probably for the best though; I think I have run out of meal ideas! I am such a horrible wife! Oh well, I suppose some day he’ll tell me about why he must have that out of town apartment for all of those meetings! Those lawyers, full of secrets, aren’t they?
Bradford, our number one son, received his B.A. in business administration from Harvard in May of this year. He is so smart! It is a wonder to me; I have a hard time reading The Catcher in the Rye. My goodness, that Holden boy says Jesus Christ alot [sic] (Papa told me to do that if I ever see a word spelled wrong!) Maybe I will get smarter with time…. Oh yes, Bradford, now where was I? Gosh, I sure do have a crummy short-term memory. He says he wants to be a business administrator, whatever that means. I do not know where they come up with these titles for jobs! I told him that he should go back to school for a couple years. I heard that after that, you could even get another degree. The…mastery degree I think it is…yes, mastery of business administration. Why he would want two degrees in the same subject is beyond me. Ah, to be a schoolboy! Anyway, Bradford also has been dating a very sweet girl named Mariel. She’s not too pretty, poor girl, but Bradford says she is very, very smart in a lot (ooh, I did it right!) of “extra-curricular” activities. Well, good for her. She has to make up for what she lacks! I took her to Bloomies the other day and bought her a slew of makeup. I sure hope it helps!
Gerald, (I let Dad pick this name out, he had a thing for some President…Jimmy Carter I think) our number two son has just one year left at Robertson Wendell School for Boys in upstate New York. He is very busy. The boys are required to play a different sport every quarter and poor Gerald, he just flat out doesn’t like confrontation! He got lucky first quarter, they offered running. Now its second quarter and he is stuck in the hard part of a rock, as they say. The only sports they offer are basketball and rugby. I do not know what he is going to do. He calls me nearly every night and just cries and cries and cries…just like a little girl! Thank heavens they offer needlepoint as an elective, or I think he would just go nuts! Gerald says that he is only one enrolled in the class, and he likes his teacher very much, he is kind, understanding and young too! They meet outside of class for coffee sometimes and discuss classes and fung shie. How nice it must be for Harold, I mean Gerald to have a mentor like that. I think I will send his teacher some chocolates and a nice self-help book! I heard Oprah’s newest is sure to fly off the shelves (gosh, what a mess that would be!). Gerald is even talking about taking extra classes, but as an “independent study” with that same teacher. Something about hot tubbing during winterI guess it is some sort of experimental class. He still does not have a girlfriend, but I’m not worried, Gerald says there are many nice people in this place they call the village. He does not go very often, but I send him money for his little trips…I hope he meets a really nice girl there, and one prettier than Mariel!
As for me, sweet lovable me, I am still chair of the local PTA! They think I still have kids in the elementary school because I look so young and beautiful! As a matter of fact (Daddy’s favorite term) I am scheduled to go in for my regular nip-n-tuck session next week! Ooh, what fun. I tell you, they let you dress up in those “scrubbies” and you look just like a doctor, except you are not, and then they put a mask over your mouth and the real doctor comes in…poof! Just like that, another five years, gone! Those plastic doctors are GOOD. Now, if only my thighs looked as good as my face! That would be a medical miracle.
So, as you can all tell, things could not be better in our perfect world. I have a wonderful husband, who I don’t even have to cook dinner for, and two absolutely brilliant genius sons who are making their way in this designer-less world.
Have a wonderful winter (ooh, good) and a happy new year!
The Cheetems Robert, Missy, Bradford and Gerald
P.S. I really want one of those new Cadillac SUVs for Christmas…so if you see Robert around town, drop a hint or two for me!

Insolvency proceedings are a legal act that is filed by somebody who is not able to pay his debts. If the consumer is in the process of bankruptcy then all active civil proceedings associated with the home loan will be put on hold. As such, a mortgage creditor has to cease all collection actions, foreclosure among them. But, a mortgage company may be allowed to go forward if they apply for relief from the automatic stay period; and once it is allowed, can go ahead with the previously mentioned process. Filing for Bankruptcy will not stop foreclosure and you must still pay back your mortgage. Going into bankruptcy can not resolve the underlying issues; it simply makes the process proceed more slowly.
Hoards of consumers will need to opt between filing for bankruptcy or permitting their home loan lender to foreclose on their home. If monthly home loan payments are not made as agreed, the financial institution will file for a foreclosure on the property. The single guaranteed way to stop this from occurring is to pay the mortgage lender on time. It is exactly the very same for everybody who has not paid her home loan, the home loan lender can foreclose on the home. Mortgage loans are much like car loans, if you cannot make payments you can have it repossessed.
While insolvency does not obstruct a foreclosure permanently, it might allow an individual extra time to pay back the past due or at least it will make it tiny bit less difficult to to repay a home loan lender. Bankruptcy law requires a lender to freeze a foreclosure action, a debtor will have a little time to produce the funds necessary to pay back the lender. Legal bankruptcy is a final option for any home owner. This will eventually happen when she is completely incapable of paying their creditor’s minimum commitments. Under insolvency, some non-secured debt will likely be dismissed but the loan on the property will not. The home loan borrower has to be willing and able to repay the real estate loan within the allotted time as the debt is secured by assets. Also, Chapter thirteen insolvency has a schedule of payments that is court-ordered, that permits the debtor make payments on his home loan to get up to date on their mortgage payments.
Bankruptcy isn’t a guarantee. The borrower must fit distinct standards to qualify and if so, there are legal fees incurred. It might cost the borrower more in legal fees than it does to just pull the belt tighter and make your home loan payment. If you know somebody that is thinking that declaring bankruptcy can be a solution to the problem, a good lawyer might be capable of answering any questions. Because insolvency is very complicated and detailed, consumer ought not seek to do it by themselves.
This article is just standard information. This is not legal advice. We have not made any representation that this article is legal advice. You might need to contact an attorney in your particular state with insolvency related questions.

Every emotion, wether we classify it as good or bad, has energy. Think about it. Can’t you feel it when you are angry or bouncing off the walls happy? Just as there are levels of energy for these emotions, there are levels of energy for another emotion - wanting.
A great man called Lester Levinson discovered that this wanting energy is a negative force in our lives. He discovered this on a mission to save his own life, when he was diagnosed with cancer and sent home to die. Wanting money. Wanting to be loved. Wanting to be appreciated. All of these wants and more were slowly killing him.
He discovered that this wanting energy equaled a feeling of lack. If you want something you don’t have it. He also discovered that we hold onto energy. When we are happy we try to hold on to this feeling. When we are upset about something we try to push it away and get rid of it.
He found, and Harvard researchers agreed, that when we let go of our emotions, both “good” and “bad” and just let them flow we find the ultimate state of imperturbability. When you reach this state about the object or person that you are stressing out over, you can actually have what you have been wanting instantly.
Researchers at some of the top universities have studied Lester’s technique and found that it really works to lessen stress, improve health and increase our natural ability to attract abundance. And stars like Joan Collins, Laura Dern and Sally Jesse Raphael have learned and use this technique every day.
This technique is easy to do. It is extremely easy to learn and it is provable. As Lester always said,” Take it for checking.” Prove it to yourself. Use this powerful technique and channel your prosperity energy today.

Do you find yourself like most moms today, so busy and driven that your life seems to be snowballing towards a crash? Most of us either work at home, or outside the home, or maybe even both.
Do you find yourself like most moms today, so busy and driven that your life seems to be snowballing towards a crash? Most of us either work at home, or outside the home, or maybe even both. On top of that we have housework, laundry, meals to prepare, and dishes to wash. In addition, there is the awesome responsibility of raising good kids. We teach, train, help with homework, take them to ball games, music, and dance lessons. Oh, how could I forget - time with husbands, too!
Several years ago, I found myself very much caught up in the busyness of all this. My family and I needed more order in our lives, but couldn’t seem to accomplish it. So I decided that I would write out a list of goals that were truly important to the welfare - spiritual, physical, and emotional - of my family. This enabled me to set up priorities, and it gave my children more of the structure they needed at home.
This was the list of goals for my home:
1. A calm, structured household.
2. A place of warmth, love, and kindness.
3. A “reasonably” clean, neat house.
4. Good, nutritious meals at regular times.
5. Regular schedules and routines for homework and chores.
6. Regular bedtimes. This is a hard one. We are all night owls!
7. Daily reading together, when my children were young.
8. A time of family prayer and Bible reading before bed.
I can’t say that we have always achieved all these goals. Sometimes the meals and bedtimes still get a little off schedule, or the laundry piles up. Yet an orderly home can result in an orderly life, making the whole family healthier, happier, and more productive.

Most of us start the day like we’re trying to catch a train. We wake up, grab a cup of coffee, look at the paper and listen to the news. We rush out of the house to make an appointment or deadline or to put the finishing touches on a project. From deadline to appointment it goes. When we leave work we have other responsibilities and obligations, and it doesn’t end until we go to sleep, and for some it still doesn’t end. We never do catch the train. We forgot one essential thing. We are the conductor and the train can’t go anywhere without us.
What if you knew deep inside that the train was not going anywhere? What would it take to develop the wisdom that there was a better way? What changes could you implement that would make a difference? I was a busy trial lawyer for thirty years, always running to catch the train. I still remember racing to the court room full of coffee and stress until I realized I was the conductor of my life. That realization allowed me to make life altering changes that continue to make my life more enjoyable, more successful and more fulfilling.
It all starts with creating your perfect morning. This is your morning, no one else’s. Consider waking up to music you love, rather than to the music or news on your alarm clock.
Then before doing anything else take 10-15 minutes and sit silently thinking about all you’re grateful for. Then start to wonder what the highlight of your day could be. From this new vantage point you might even skip that cup of coffee or that cigarette. As you leave your house and begin the flow of your day you look at each experience and wonder if this is going to be the highpoint of your day knowing there is more to come. The concept of looking at the highlight of the day can be used in any situation even one that seems unpleasant. Looking for the highlight in this experience or this person can totally change your attitude. As the day unfolds, if you sense that things inside are heating up, consider taking a little break. You might even stretch for five minutes or walk around the block. As your day progresses the biggest difference is the knowledge that you can be busy and be relaxed.
I have found that starting the day this way increases my energy and efficiency throughout the day. When I leave my house centered and focused there is a much greater likelihood that I can maintain this balance throughout the day. There has been plenty of research by psychologists demonstrating the value of taking the time for morning meditation or creative silence. I have been doing this for over thirty years and very rarely feel overwhelmed. I laugh more and generally enjoy my day. Of course I have my challenges and lose my focus periodically, but not for long. And before I go to sleep I again think about what was most special about this day.
The one thing I do know for certain is that there‘s a direct correlation between how I start my day and the quality of my life. Try a little experiment. For the next thirty days start your day on your own terms and discover the dramatic changes that are possible.
Speak with you soon,
Mark
