Business Innovation - Good Thinking NOT Leadership

Posted in Products Tips

Creativity can be defined as problem identification and idea generation whilst innovation can be defined as idea selection, development and commercialisation.

There are other useful definitions in this field, for example, creativity can be defined as consisting of a number of ideas, a number of diverse ideas and a number of novel ideas.

There are distinct processes that enhance problem identification and idea generation and, similarly, distinct processes that enhance idea selection, development and commercialisation. Whilst there is no sure fire route to commercial success, these processes improve the probability that good ideas will be generated and selected and that investment in developing and commercialising those ideas will not be wasted.

Good Thinking NOT Leadership

All too often good thinking is sacrificed to the competitive urge to lead. With the amount of leadership material available and everyone wanting to be one, scant attention is paid to the effect this has on group productivity:

a) Leadership battles encourage competition and not collaboration. They restrict the flow of information and reduce intellectual cross-pollination, thus exacerbating path dependency, parochialism and path dependency.

b) Leaders or wannabe leaders are often more willing to maintain their position than arrive at good results.

c) Leaders or wannabe leaders are more likely to restrict the expression and thought processes of other individuals than encourage them.

d) Leaders or wannabe leaders are more likely to resist criticism of their structures, processes and methods and thus hinder improivement.

DVD Ripper

Posted in Products Tips

Digital Versatile Disc (DVD) media format basically stores data with the finest visual and audio qualities. You would not want to purchase your favorite movies at skyrocketing prices and t find out they have been scratched or some data has been lost. DVDs are becoming less expensive, however you cannot take them granted, they can be destroyed. That’s why it’s good to know there is a method of copying. However, no matter how inexpensive they can be, you still cannot take for granted the loss that will overcome you once they are ruined. Good thing there is a method of producing a “safety copy”. DVDs called “ripping.”

It is essential that your computer support the software that will tolerate DVD ripping. To copy a DVD, insert the DVD you want to copy into the drive. Next, start verifying which files and folders you wish to copy. Upon inserting the DVD into the hard drive, a list of the files and folders will appear. It is important to note that the movie is usually placed in the video TS folder. This folder contains other files as well such as the .IFO file and the .VOB file. It is the .VOB file that contains the film itself and the .IFO file houses the directions as to when to load additional files.

Your computer system ought to have sufficient memory, storage space and reliable processing speed before you can access DVD ripping. The device that you will use in ripping– a DVD –must be available. You can choose either a DVD burner or a CD burner. Utilizing a DVD burner proves more effective when it comes to disc space and resolution.

DVD ripping has always been a recognized safe way of recopying. One important reminder though, you can always work on DVD ripping but be sure that you do not transcend its legitimacy.

DVD Ripper provides detailed information on DVD Ripper, Free DVD Ripper, Audio DVD Ripper Downloads, Super DVD Ripper and more. DVD Ripper is affiliated with DVD Player Software.

Now I Know Why Dish Network Satellite TV is a Better Buy than Cable

Posted in Products Tips

In compiling the Dish-Network-Directory, my main aim was to gather all the latest and up-to-date Dish Network Satellite TV information in one place. But I also found that I was able to find some interesting comparisons between Dish Network and Cable TV. Sometimes when making a comparison it’s easy to come up with either technical reasons or financial reasons why one thing might be better than another, but in this case I found that Dish Network came out on top on both fronts.

It takes a long to time to research a market, particularly when there are many competing offers, but comparing Dish Network and Cable can be made easier by looking at long-term trends. These show firstly that Dish Network take-up is growing in terms of market share, whilst cable is falling. Secondly that the cost of cable is increasing whilst Dish Network prices are stable. I say stable, but in real terms they are falling because of the additional equipment you can get for the same cost. And it’s not as if you have to buy the equipment either, you get the complete basic setup for free and additional features or duplicate equipment can be obtained at a nominal one-off fee.

So let’s look at equipment first. The Dish Network equipment portfolio is increasing all the time. This is because of the proliferation of HD (High Definition) TV and the equipment to record it - HD DVR. This brings about our next comparison point; Dish Network provides a 100% digital service plus the availability of HDTV. Cable on the other hand provides only a percentage of digital services with more limited HDTV. This is an important difference since digital channels are what you need for quality reception, with the ability of the digital service to remove interference or bad quality before you see it on the screen. HDTV then goes one step further by giving the best possible picture quality - essential if you want to view on a large TV. Cable is three or four times more susceptible to breaks in transmission, an important factor that is often overlooked.

Now to look at programming, it doesn’t take you long to notice that Dish Network Satellite TV provides more channels than cable, and the availability of channels is increasing all the time. The best deals from retailers usually include rebates on programming as well as some months of free movie reception- at least this means you can try before you buy.

Just as important as quality and variety of course is the cost. Well this is where Dish Network Satellite TV wins hands down. Dish Network channel packages are significantly cheaper - even before you factor in the initial rebates you get with most deals. When you buy Dish Network, you know that you are buying something that is forward-looking in regard to the HD channel availability and equipment. Basic Dish Network programming packages now come in at $19.99 per month against $50-plus for cable.

In summary then, cable can’t compare with Dish Network, either in terms of cost or the quality and variety of equipment on offer.

Can DIRECTV DVR Replace Blockbuster?

Posted in Products Tips

What is a DIRECTV DVR? How can DIRECTV DVR replace Blockbuster? Home video libraries have traditionally been for those with either lots of money to spend on legalized copies or for techno-pirates of the working class with little regard for the system of copyrights. While most people are not politically inclined to anarchism in the US, they are open to defending the anarchist’s “free reign of information” as an excuse for making or buying illegal copies of Audio, Video and even Written materials.

Both the digital world and popular pressure finally gave in to the “free reign of information.” The DIRECTV DVR is a replacement for those old home video libraries that might have up to 300 VHS tapes along the wall, each with six hours of TV, soap operas, Movies, MTV or whatever recorded on them. A DIRECTV DVR can record up to 70 hours of information in one little box. The DIRECTV DVR will improve with time, as will technology and far from now, Video Rental stores may become obsolete.

Some political philosophers and statesmen have already conjectured what the future of our nation is to look like some 30 years from now, and one of these talking heads insights tells the tale of the downfall of Video Rental stores like Blockbuster.

DIRECTV DVR is Digital

When Beta audio-video recording and playback media first arrived on the scene way back in prehistoric 1975 with 100,000 VCR machines, they were superior to the competition, but wouldn’t sell there patens. VHS came along in full and blew Sony Beta machines right out the water. Like “wow?!?” What happened? That was most peoples’ sentiment at the time, at least those who had invested in Beta machines.

8-Tracks were being installed into Ford dashboards as early as 1966 and was the major audio format for cars in the 1970’s, in fact was still being used by Madonna and Michael Jackson in the 1980’s with such hits as Thriller. But all of a sudden Sony Walkman comes along with Compact Cassettes (which already existed), and blows 8-track out of the water… Well, mini disc sure seems like it is repeating 8-Track’s history with mp3 players all over the place.

DIRECTV DVR is Revolutionary

Lets just look at the evolution for a second: 8-Track, Beta, Compact Cassette, VCR, Laser Disc, Compact Disc, Mini Disc, DVD, MP3 player, DVR and finally DIRECTV DVR. Well, digital didn’t sell when it was fighting analog super-giants that set “standards” for excellence, but DVD, computer sales and “free reign of information on the internet” changed all that.

People know what digital is the “now”, and they know it is superior. People know that MP3 players don’t skip tracks while driving or running, nor do they eat tape. Cell phones can play back MPEG and MP3 uploads from any digital storage space, and people know technology is picking up pace.

Personal Audio and Visual libraries that occupy space are being replaced as technology speeds up and puts everything into Hard Drives. The Satellite TV DIRECTV DVR is a media storage device unlike any other that has ever existed. DIRECTV DVR is revolutionary. Big or small, tech is evolving and DIRECTV DVR will eventually blow Blockbuster out of the water.

DIRECTV DVR is the Future

How long will it take for DIRECTV DVR to fully replace the Audio-Visual media distribution of the last 50 years? Some specialists dictate that Blockbuster like media distributions of music and television libraries will be overrun by homeowners with Satellite TV, Radio, Movie Channels, Music Television, Internet and PayPerView all in one monthly service within the next five to ten years, maybe less. It all depends on how fast Satellite TV companies can compete with DIRECTV DVR multimedia digital storage and playback devices.

The more competition, the faster hardware will evolve and DIRECTV DVR is setting a standard for excellence that will only evolve and upgrade itself with every new advance in technology.

“DIRECTV DVR is the future of multimedia digital home storage.”

Dish Network and Direct TV Make Application to Join Forces

Posted in Products Tips

In October of 2001, Dish Network and Direct TV made a very serious attempt at joining forces with one another which would have given these two Satellite TV providers a huge monopoly in the satellite TV industry, however, the US Department of Justice took a bold face stance and blocked the merger.

If the merger between Dish Network and Direct TV would have taken place, the new company would serve the entire US without fear of any competition, resulting in a complete monopoly position that is not allowed. As we all know, competition spurs competitive pricing and continuous progress and a merger of this magnitude would basically result in less progress and the possibility of inflated prices.

At the present time Dish network and Direct TV are the only two satellite TV providers in America, a merger between the two would reduce this to just one company, which clearly is a dangerous monopoly situation for consumers at hand. Even in areas with cable TV the merger would result in just 2 television broadcasting providers, of which each has a monopoly on its own technology.

In their application, Dish Network and Direct TV claimed that their joining of forces was necessary to compete against the cable TV Giants. However, at the time of said application, statistics indicated that satellite TV was growing at an incredibly fast pace while cable TV subscriptions were on the decline.

Over all it seemed that without any other satellite TV providers a merger between Dish Network and Direct TV would not be in the public’s best interest.
The fact that there are two satellite TV providers and not just one is a blessing to everyone interested in signing up for Satellite TV Service, as mentioned earlier competition is good for pricing.

Dish Network and Direct TV are now going head to head with one another in a very aggressive marketing campaign and as a result the consumer gains to prosper very nicely by taking advantage of the phenomenal deals that are being offered by either of these two Satellite TV giants.

Pat Johnson is the owner of Dish Network and Direct TV Pat has many years experience in the Satellite TV Industry and has written numerous articles about Dish Network and Direct TV.
